Get the Edge At Low-Limit Texas Hold’em
28 NovProduct DescriptionLow-Limit Texas Hold’em is the fastest-growing casino poker game. But new player often come to the poker rooms completely unprepared to play a winning game. Even so-called “veteran” players are often long-term losers at the game because they have never taken the time to study how to play or analyze their own individual games. As author Bill Burton clearly shows in Get the Edge at Low-Limit Texas Hold’em, a savvy low-limit player can turn a profit at this game by exploiting the weaknesses of his or her opponents, and developing his or her own strengths. In Get the Edge at Low-Limit Texas Hold’em, you will learn: The basics of proper play; the rules; the protocols What starting hands play – and what starting hands to throw away The concept of “table position,” and how that affects what hands to play The proper times to check, raise, fold, and check raise When to bluff and to semi-bluff How to win in Low-Limit Hold’em tournaments The proper bankroll requirements for the type of games you play in How to size up your opponents and their playing styles The most common mistakes made by novice or unskilled players How to “read” your opponents’ tells to gain the advantage Money-management techniques to handle your bankroll In addition, Bill Burton explains his own fascinating journey from the kitchen to the cardroom and how, in just a few short months of intensive study and practice, he became a winning player.

Again, just last night, I picked up this book and found the info I was looking for. I have the other standard poker books but I like this one because it is SO easy to read and understand. Very good advice. Highly recommended.

This is another great book in the Frank Scoblete Get the Edge series and, as a poker player, I am happy to see that Frank’s line is now incorporating this game. Bill Burton, the casino guide for About.com, has done a great job of boiling down the essentials of Texas Hold em to a series of rules and betting strategies that I find right on the money. Even as a long time player, I learned a lot from Mr. Burton. This book is an excellent book for beginners and somewhat more experienced players. Burton is easy to read and the book should be one of the two or three must books for starting players to master. Good job all around!

Despite not having been written by a hold’em all-star (hey, it is LOW limit after all) I found this book to be chuck full of solid, usefull advice. This is the second hold’em intro book I’ve read and found it an excellent read. Here is a course study in improving your game. No tall tales about tournament life or side stories. Just solid poker advice. I had low expectations for this book at first but it quickly earned my respect. An experienced casino player might not have gotten the same amount of value from this book as I did, but I’d have to believe even they would get something from it. If you are looking for a book to give you a solid poker foundation, you could do much worse.

I am only 25% of the way through this book and my game on the internet has improved greatly. I am no longer going to the cashier for chips. The book is well written, easy to understand, provides hands on examples and personal experience on much of the authors strategy and playing technique.
Even if you do not intend to play for money, this book will make the game of Texas Hold-em more enjoyable as you will understand the dynamics of the game…
